Adapted from Malaysian TODAY.
1 In the past there was quite a debate over “Should we change our Maths and sciences syllabus back into Bahasa Malaysia?” That is a stupid remark. You know why it is stupid-because some of the Malaysians couldn’t even spell properly, some student are even quite illiterate in English. IN my opinion, we use stick back to Maths & Sciences in English. In this way, our future Malaysians is able to speak and write properly.
2 Do you think that switching back to Bahasa Malaysia for Math & Sciences is wise? You
decide.
3 We should support the stay put of English in Maths and sciences in Secondary school.
4 Do you ever suffer from a sudden incapability to spell something in English? Like you are so use to writing short forms in Short Messaging System (SMS) on the phone and when it come to write a essay, you become hand tight( ahaha, adapted from tongue tight) =)
5 Below are examples of how many of us speak English today. You better believe it, because they are all are true cases!
6 One student is heard telling the other at the formal function: “ Wah, today you look very extinguisher.” (Disgusting)
7 At a modelling agency, a model asks her colleague…,..”Where you SHOT tomorrow?”
8 An essay by a college student…”He was arrested for parking tickets and other MISTER MEANERS (misdemeanours).”
9 At beauty pageant a contestant says: “I want to be success”.
10 Look this is a funny one: …..Another essay by a student: “ He suffer from low SELF OF STEAM ( self-esteem).”
11 A guy told his friends …”i drank in Bolivia”( oblivion)”.
12 From a notice posted by a student:
“ I pass my test, my grade should be hirer”.
13 This is plain stupid: In a interview:
Question: what is your IQ?
Answer: I can see well……(hahahhahhahahaha).
14 (This is familiar one) **** At a cybercafé during a typical CounterStrike session:
“I kill you till you DIE!”
15 From a letter written by a graduate:
“ You should conscious what you do…”
16 In an Email- resume reply:
Due to the poor standard of English, an employer sends out an email to an interviewee saying:” Sorry, you are not the right candidate for this job. We need someone who can write and speak well in English.” The reply the employer got” So, when I can start?”
17 Usual mistakes you hear:
Please open the TV, open the fridge, open the fan or light please.
18 From an e-mail by a secondary student: “First of all i say you sorry for e-mail you without your permission.”
19 From an essay written by a secondary student:
“ Diabetes is not only cause by the food we eat, it can be cause by genetic inside our body i.e:,..Diabetes can be pass down from our parents or our relative before us maybe because they have diabetes before”.
20 From the latter of a 17 years old: “ I like your word ( work),and what a cute creature( picture) of you….”
21 From an essay written by a secondary student:
Ali is a good and is the friend of mine too”.
22 From a aspiring model during casting: ” My weight is 65 kilos and my TALL is , four feet 12 inches (five feet).”

now there are a few view points on this subject.
1) yes, teaching maths and science in english is great as it allows the student to have an easier time facing the working world unless you are working for the govt.
2) yet again, if having it in english makes it harder for the student to understand, it defeats the purpose all together of education.
on the subject of language.
1) look at us. we studied everything in BM but we are english educated making translations easier for us to grasp. this indirectly made us more equipped in both languages.
2) we all tend to converse in our mother tongue during school. colleague and work place. it doesn’t matter what language you were thought in, as we have to figure out a way to get the message across to the recipient regardless the fact that the average msian butchers the language.
3) i agree having english taught young in schools but i dont agree with the fact that most chinese in msian have practically nearing zero profficiency in conversing in BM. why? Kami semua rakyat msia. dan jika berpuluh tahun seseorang mendiami negara ini dan masih tidak fasih dalam BMsia, there is seriously somethign wrong.

lizzie2 kevin: wow!! great for 2/3 comment. Quite true that sometimes, the non-malaya are bad in Bahasa Malaysia. but my point is learning BM is a good thing but it only can be use in south east Asia region only. Beside that, the lingua franca for the world is still English.
Lizze2Gerald:Yupe..i have to agreed with you. I send over to Malaysia College Newspaper, it didn’t get publish because subject to sensitive.
Lizze2JOn: That is what Malaysia is famous for b =)
